Holy Cross School will show off a shiny new look to students, teachers and parents, when school opens in August. With work nearly complete at the Blessed Sacrament Center, parents and friends are invited July 23-25 to give classrooms a good scrubbing to ready the building for school which starts August. 23.

Renovation work has been underway for two months to enhance the school learning environment. Workers have installed new lighting and new carpeting in hallways and classrooms, lowered hallway ceilings and added fresh paint throughout the school. A new roof and two new boilers have been installed. Restrooms have been upgraded with new sinks, toilets and more.

In addition, the gymnasium has all new lunch tables, brighter lighting and more space for student activity with the removal of older bleachers. The improvements will make the multi-use gym more flexible for physical education, school lunch, concerts, programs and other activities.

Holy Cross School enrolls some 300 students in grades 3-8 in its classrooms. The classrooms in both its original section and 1960s addition are completely wired and equipped with big screen TVs for 21th century learning. Students access internet learning sites with new chromebooks while teachers move about the wireless classrooms with Surface Pro tablets – using cloud-based applications for critical thinking and problem solving.
