A $14,455 grant from the Siouxland Recovery Fund has been awarded to Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools for “School Learning Connections” to support students are quarantined at home.

The grant will fund the BHCS purchase of 40 or more Chromebooks and hot spot devices for families without internet connections. School principals will help identify families in need of hot spots.

The Recovery Fund was created with gifts from tri-state area citizens and businesses to help area non-profits impacted by the novel coronavirus. BHCS is one of over 40 organizations to receive a grant from the fund, administered by United Way of Siouxland.

“We are thankful to fund donors and the Siouxland Recovery Fund review board members that studied our application and awarded our schools the full amount that we requested,” says Dr. John Flanery, BHCS president. “This will help our students in families that become sick or are moved into quarantine because of COVID-19.”
